April 27 well, we went to LA for the weekend. We went to visit out parents, and – Tiki Bar TV ‘s 4th birthday party! In the afternoon we went to a LA tiki icon – the Tiki Ti! we got a picture with the son of the original owner and another friend ( one of the tiki central tangaroa’s ) we met there. That evening at the TIki Bar TV event , Barbara got a hold of La La and had her show up and snuggle with me for a picture, and we met Dr Tiki right by the entrance. Barb also got to cuddle up to “Drink Bot”. It was a very strange evening, but surprisingly fun. I made sure to thank the entire cast for their 4 years of effort producing a show that’s helped me relax and not take my self so seriously. ( BTW: LaLa was pressing her breast into me, and I have to say , she’s one of the warmest I’ve ever encountered :) If only I was 30 years younger :) ) Here’s Barb and “Mr Ambassador” – before she realized who he was :) Here’s barbara and “Drink Bot”: March 15 well, we had the inagural party for the Poi Dog Paradise last night
Everybody loved the volcano :) Some of the raffle items, a couple of barb’s mugs ("weepin' Maui onion" and "ulalena mega" mugs ), a gift certificate from the Hawaii store, and several ceramics pieces from local artists Pat Colyar, Robert Moreno, and Carol Goechel ( sp ? ) . Everybody loved the Dirtnapple recipe, and the kids present loved the sodas and pinball and video games. There was WAY too much food for everyone. We made a special soda for our neighbor friend Maddie – lemon lime soda, banana syrup, and cinnamon syrup. ( mostly because she asked, and because she’s always coming around and helping with the dogs – and she helped us do some of the stamping on the walls. ) We took in $380 in cash donations, and a carful of food which we’re going to take to the local QFC for the local food bank. Barb and I are matching that $380 as well to Northwest Harvest, and Microsoft’s giving campaign will match our donation, so, Northwest Harvest will get a little under $1200. ( I would not ask Microsoft to match the full amount, since it didn’t come from me. That just wouldn’t be appropriate. ) A successful night, i think. March 10 I’m learning how to repair an old williams pinball machineBarb has 2 pinball machines, one of which is “EarthShaker” . It starts up with “AJSTMENT FAILURE” which probably means something to do with the batteries. I’ve replaced the batteries with no effect, and now I think I’ll have to replace the battery holder ( which is recommended as a good thing to do ). After all this time, I’m doing electronics again. February 24 Poi Dog Paradise re-construction update photos
This weekend I get to start doing the hitching wrapping and turk’s head knots. More photos then.
Getting ready for a long knot tying sessionI get to wrap one of the support beams in our new lounge with hitching secured by Turk’s heads. I’ve done them before, but never this big – usually they’re about an inch to inch and a half around, this one gets to be about 8 inches in diameter. |
